About the coach
Moggy is one of a rare handful of Zimbabweans to earn senior national colours in three separate sports. Golf, cricket and rugby, all at the highest level his country had to offer, and all built on the same foundation: a swing or an action you can trust when it matters.
His cricket career took him through 56 one-day internationals, 3 Test matches and 104 first-class games, along with selection for a World XI against India and Zimbabwe’s Over-50s World Cup squad. Golf, though, has always been the constant. It is the game he has played longest, thought about hardest, and now teaches full time.
Since 2013 he has coached young sportsmen and women through Harare Hellenic Junior School and St John’s College, first as first-team cricket and rugby coach and then across age-group sides. That schools work taught him the thing most lessons miss: a player only improves when the instruction fits the person in front of you. There is no house method here. There is your swing, made more reliable.
Sessions run out of Harare. Beginners are genuinely welcome, single-figure handicappers are genuinely challenged, and nobody leaves without one clear thing to work on.
How a session works
No filler, no lecture. We find the one thing costing you the most shots and we fix that.
You hit balls, Moggy watches. Ten minutes of honest ball flight tells him more than any questionnaire. He looks at what the club is actually doing, not what it is supposed to do.
Most swings have a single root fault and a pile of compensations sitting on top. We work the root. One change, drilled until it holds under a bit of pressure.
You leave with a drill you can do without a coach standing there, and a clear picture of what good feels like. Progress happens between lessons.

Questions
Forty-five minutes of coaching for US$45. Sessions start on the hour, which leaves a fifteen-minute buffer at the end so nothing runs into the next lesson and there is time to talk through what you have just worked on.
Any hour from 6:00am to 6:00pm, subject to availability. The calendar above is live: if a slot is showing, it is genuinely free. Early mornings tend to go first.
In person at the session. There is no card required to book and no deposit taken online.
Yes. A good portion of Moggy’s work is with complete beginners and juniors. Clubs can be provided if you do not have your own, just mention it in the notes when you book.
Reply to your confirmation email or message Moggy directly. Twelve hours’ notice means no charge and no awkwardness. Late cancellations occupy a slot someone else wanted, so please do give what notice you can.
Moggy has coached first-team cricket and rugby at school level for over a decade. Cricket coaching is being added to this site shortly. In the meantime, ask him at your golf session.
Harare weather being what it is, Moggy will be in touch if a session genuinely cannot go ahead and will move you to the next slot that suits.
